INTERREG MED JOINS EUROPEAN MARITIME DAY, 16 & 17 MAY 2019, LISBON

Do you want to know what Interreg MED is doing in blue entrepreneurship and innovation? Then you should attend the European Maritime Day 2019, in Lisbon the next 16-17 May, where the main European stakeholders working in blue economy will gather.

The European Maritime Day (EMD) 2019 will focus on blue entrepreneurship, innovation and investment. The conference starts with an inspirational opening session, followed by 8 breakout sessions, organised by the European Commission, and focusing on a number of strategic EU policy initiatives to support Europe’s Sustainable Blue Economy. Furthermore 28 high-quality Thematic Workshops designed and organized by maritime stakeholders will complete this challenging event.

EMD EXPO: "Market for Innovation and Entrepreneurship in the Blue Economy"

One of the most exciting parts of the event is the exhibition with an impressive array of 100 exhibitors from around Europe. There you will discover innovative ideas, products and services related to the conference themes, brought by R&D centres, universities, incubators, spin-offs, start-ups, companies, associations and NGOs. This is where you will find Interreg MED, participating in a joint stand with other Interreg programmes. See the list of the exhibitors.

Pitch stage

Pitchers from across the EU will present advanced innovative projects on blue economy. This activity takes place at the exhibition in a pitch stage with 3 sessions (session 1, session 2, session 3). 

B2B meetings

All the participants interested in Business to business (B2B) networking will be granted the opportunity for matchmaking in a dedicated area, making the marketplace an ideal opportunity for blue economy professionals to connect. To join this meet-up activity you must book B2B meeting slots, post your profile and/or register to workshops or breakout sessions. 

Side events

Furthermore, during EMD 2019 a number of attractive side events will take place in Lisbon.

If you haven’t registered, you cannot join. Registration is necessary for all the participants at EMD. So, register now on line! The deadline is on 10th May, 17.00 Brussels time.


EMD is the annual EU meeting point on maritime affairs and blue growth. It targets maritime professionals, entrepreneurs and ocean leaders from businesses, governments, public institutions, NGOs and academia.

The language of the conference is English. Interpretation in English and Portuguese will be available in the plenary session.
