World Congress of the IUCN

The World Congress of the International Union for Conservation of Nature will take place in Marseilles, France, in 2020.

The last one took place in Hawai, USA, in 2016 and about 10 000 people gathered and adopted more than 100 resolutions protecting biodiversity and tackling challenges such as global warming.

The 2020 World Conservation Congress will take place in Marseilles, as it represents the Mediterranean, which is one of the 35 hotspots for biodiversity in the world, and as the City is willing to work on the establishment of a biodiversity strategy for its territory.

Thousands of participants coming from governments, public authorities and research and businesses, are expected to attend.
