Prepare for EU events in 2019

This year, promises to be very active in transnational and European events, awards and initiatives. This is the time to prepare your participations. Several application procedures start now or soon and deadlines will follow shortly. 

So, here’s a recap of the EU events not to miss and tips for you to join in. This is news is rather long and has many details on each of the events. Select the event that interests you most and read about it carefully.

TEN-T DAYS, 28 March 2019, Bucharest

The European Commission, Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport, together with the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union and Ministry of Transport of Romania, organise the conference on TEN-T & CEF on 28 March 2019, in Bucharest. 

The event, organised back-to-back with the Informal Transport Council of 27th March 2019, aims at presenting the state of the art of TEN-T and in particular in the Orient/East-Med Corridor and in the Rhine-Danube Corridor, as well as the achievements of CEF I and the latest developments.

Environmental laws have a huge impact on our life. They improve water and air quality, they protect nature, and they encourage recycling and waste management. But to really make an appreciable difference, EU laws must be properly implemented.

The next edition of EU Green Week (13-17 May 2019) will put this process of environmental implementation into the spotlight.

European Maritime Day, 16-17 May Lisbon 2019

EMD is celebrated annually across Europe around the 20 May to raise the visibility of maritime sectors and support an integrated approach to maritime affairs.

The focus in 2019 will be on blue entrepreneurship, innovation and investment to transform traditional maritime sectors and boost emerging technologies and value chains. A specific focus will be put on research and innovation for a plastic-free ocean.


How to get involved?

Natura 2000 Award, May 2019, Brussels

This award recognises the time, dedication and efforts Europeans invested in nature protection and also showcases the role Natura 2000 plays for safeguarding our natural heritage and promoting social and economic wellbeing.

At this special event, the five category winners were awarded with their trophies, and the European Citizens' Award was presented to the finalist who received the highest number of public votes.

EU Energy Week, 18-20 June 2019, Brussels

EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) this year’s theme is "Shaping Europe’s energy future".

EUSEW is the biggest event dedicated to renewables and efficient energy use in Europe. It is made up of a 3-day policy conference offering various networking opportunities, an EU Sustainable Energy Awards competition with a public vote for the citizens' award and local events, Energy Days, held across Europe throughout the months of May and June.

How to get involved?
  • suggest a session at the EUSEW Policy Conference, held from 18 to 20 June 2019. Apply online until 28 January 2019.

  • During the EUSEW, five of the year’s most outstanding projects will be named winners of the EU Sustainable Energy Awards, also known as the EUSEW Awards. You can apply online until 4 February 2019

European Mobility week, 16-22 September 2019

Since 2002, EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK has sought to improve public health and quality of life through promoting clean mobility and sustainable urban transport.

The campaign gives people the chance to explore the role of city streets and to experiment with practical solutions to tackle urban challenges, such as air pollution.

European Cooperation Day, 21 September 2019

European Cooperation Day is on 21 September and the surrounding days!

European Cooperation Day invites you to participate in any of the events showcasing project results or highlighting the importance of territorial cooperation.

In the past editions, people cycled together, sang together, ate together, and in general had a wonderful time in each other’s company in hundreds of local events organised by territorial cooperation programmes and projects in over 30 countries.

European Week of Regions and Cities, October 2019, Brussels
